The Indian Lunar calendar which starts its first month of the year as "Chitra" - March / April - (harvesting month for India ), is one long procession of festivals dedicated to various deities, saints, prophets and also seasons. . Each festival is unique in style and is characterised by colour, gaiety, enthusiasm, feasts and prayers and rituals.
